Born in Leicestershire, I moved to Brighton as a child.
As well as participating in group and solo exhibitions, my paintings have been in galleries across the South of England and my work features in collections in the United Kingdom, Europe, America, Canada and the United Arab Emirates.
I try to simplify subjects in order to encourage the viewer to play a part in the creation of the image in front of them; avoiding the temptation of being too descriptive thereby leaving something to the imagination.
Paintings don't always have to be beautiful - but the composition, that's the important quality ... that must be right.
Now working mainly in oils, I enjoy painting a broad range of subjects especially beach scenes, urban landscapes and interiors. I am particularly interested in light and what light does to the world around us.
Particular places and people are often the starting point for my work.
